Volunteer Social Media Assistant

MCC Thrift Shop

Department: Advertising and Promotion

Assignment Overview:

Skills/Knowledge/Attitudes required:
• Understanding of social media platform
• Basic photography
• Writing post descriptions

Tasks and Responsibilities
• Regularly post on Facebook and Instagram
• Help to increase the public’s awareness of the MCC Thrift Shop through advertising and promoting sales/events
• Assist with posting a volunteer of the week
• Setup and photograph displays of merchandise for advertisement purposes
• Promote MCC online content once a week

Time Commitment:
• 5 hours/week
• Photographing in shop once a week

• Accountable to manager

Training and Development offered:
• Tutorial session with Thrift Coordinator – setting up your facebook page
• Advanced Facebook posting – maximizing your facebook reach and engagement


Volunteering as the Social Media Assistant is a fun and exciting opportunity for an individual or individuals interested in social media, photography and marketing. This is a flexible position that will be developed based on the gifts and capabilities of the individual assigned. The Social Media Assistant will work closely with the Manager at the MCC Thrift Shop to regularly update multiple social media platforms, assist in advertising and find ways to further integrate the MCC Thrift Shop in relevant communities through social media.
